Using a frying pan, sprayed with one cal spray fry off your bacon, garlic and onions, approx 5 minutes. Tip this into your slow cooker
Next coat your beef pieces in the flour and salt & pepper, there isn't too much flour however this will help brown the meat
Using the same frying pan quickly batch fry your pieces to brown the meat, approx 5 minutes - do not overcrowd the pan. You can do this in two batches. Tip this in your slow cooker too
Next add your red wine, water and stock cubes to the slow cooker, followed by your large carrots slices, mushroom halves, tomato puree and fresh herbs
Give it a quick stir
Pop the lid on and cook on low for 8 hours (often ready after 6)
Once cooked add a table spoon of gravy granules to achieve the thickness you like. Then you're all ready to serve
Check the seasoning and adjust accordingly with salt & pepper if necessary
