It’s easy, vegan, vegetarian, protein packed, low-fat, and delicious!!

This makes a big portion – so please half the recipe if you only want to serve 4!

Some recipes have coconut milk added which makes a creamier Dahl, however I haven’t added any as I was conscious of fat and I wanted a very low fat recipe

Vegan Red Lentil Dahl

What is Dahl?

So what are the differances between dahl and curry?

Interestingly Dahl, also spelled Dahl or Daal, is a pretty staple dish in India, it has a very soft Constance – much softer than a traditional curry

Dahl typically includes lentils or split pulses that gives it am almost  stewlike texture.

Dahl has a mix of various spices for flavour.

Is Dahl good for you?

Dhal is an excellent source of iron and fibre, and a good source of protein, for vegetarians. This recipe is also VEGAN

Dahl is packed full of nutrients and provides a good source of vitamins, minerals and fibre.

Lentils are also high in protein and low in fat so they are great substitute for meat.

All pulses & lentils are a lower price protein too!

Step 1 to your perfect Red Lentil Dahl

Chuck all your ingredients and spices into your slow cooker or crockpot

Serving suggestions  for your Dahl

I like mine served with rice, however I also have it occasionally on a jacket potato

I also sometimes add frozen spinach just before I serve it too

I’ve been know to eat just a bowl of Dahl for lunch

Can I freeze my Red Lentil Dahl?

Yes you can – absolutely 🙂

If you have some left over, pop in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days

If you want to freeze it for a later date you can also do that – freeze for up to 3 months

Really delicious recipe I tweaked it a little to our taste with a dash of sweet chilli sauce and English sauce we all loved it . Good job as it makes a massive portion for very little money. So the rest is going in the freezer to enjoy again .

    1. Oh so great to hear – Thank you
